For plastics manufacturing operations, success is determined by how much product is shipped, the quality of the product, and how much it costs, all of which impact profitability. Industrial vibration is a cost-effective tool that helps plant managers keep these metrics at optimal levels.
For example, as raw materials are unloaded at the plant, they can often become bound up at the opening of a hopper, chute, or bin, resulting in obstructed flow. By installing a vibrator on the container – or using a portable model that can be moved easily from surface to surface – bulk solids flow more reliably. At the same time, the vibration loosens any material that may be stuck to the inside walls of the container.
Vibration also allows for flexible, precise control of plastic pellets, powder and or other raw materials as they feed into the process, compared to manual or mechanical alternatives. This is especially beneficial in when injection molding is involved. Plus, an industrial vibrator installed onto a series of screens with varied mesh sizes allows the sorting of pellets by size.
With finished products, once the molded plastic has cooled, vibration de-molds products more efficiently than removing them manually, and without causing damage. Finally, using vibration to compact – or pre-settle – the product in boxes or containers prior to shipping more product or pieces per container, reducing shipping costs.
